The test results in the table below have been grouped according to the guidelines set forth by FamilyTree DNA for the interpretation of genetic distance in the 12-marker, 25-marker, and 37-marker tests. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with these guidelines. The shaded boxes within a grouping indicate a variance from the most common value.

NOTE: The marker names in red indicate those alleles that mutate at a faster rate. Haplogroups in green have been confirmed by SNP testing. Haplogroups in red have been predicted by Family Tree DNA, based on unambiguous test results. Please note that for any predicted results there is no reason to order a SNP test to confirm the Haplogroup. If the HAPLO field is blank, then Family Tree DNA feels that the comparative results are not clear and unambiguous. In this case, those kit holders who wish to know their Haplogroup with 100% confidence may do so by ordering a SNP confirmation test.

This is a public site for the sharing of genealogical information with fellow researchers of the surname JAMES. This basic information includes the member's name, kit number and e-mail address for the family representative, the lineage being tested, as far as is known, and the DNA test results. In rare instances, a second copy of DYS19 is found. The Y-Search submission template provides space for a marker called DYS19b. That's where the second value is reported when it occurs, as it has in our group. Individuals who have only the usual single value for DYS19 have a zero in this column in the table below.
